Nana and Marc are a very special couple. They’re two of those rare types of people who are so perfect for one another that there’s no doubt in your mind that they would find each other, regardless of circumstance or time.
This lovely couple got their start online a few years ago. Interestingly enough, one of Nana’s friends took the initiative and set up a dating profile for her, which is how Marc found her. And as the old saying goes, the rest was history.
Both Nana and Marc live and work in London, but they chose to hold their wedding in Cardiff, Wales, where Marc is from and where his parents still lives. The day’s activities began with a quick photo shoot with Marc, his family, and his best mate from school at the house where he grew up. After chumming around enjoying the energy and excitement of the day, I traveled to a nearby hotel to photograph Nana as she got ready.
It was so much fun in the hotel room; everyone was buzzing with joy and the little ones milling around brought a vibrant energy to the room. Of course, Nana looked stunning with perfectly paired, subtle makeup and flawless hair. She complemented her look with an amazing Victoria Beckham dress and gorgeous headpiece by Rachel Black.
After getting ready, we headed to the ceremony and reception site – Dyffryn Gardens, which are timeless Edwardian gardens protected by the National Trust. People came from all over the world to attend Nana and Marc’s wedding (especially Nana’s family, who is originally from Ghana).
The full ceremony and vows were lovely and heartfelt, and the reception was upbeat and joyous. As a special surprise, Nana had arranged African Dancers to kick off the reception. It was a great idea; they invited everyone on stage, which was really good fun.
This was one of the most touching weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure to shoot, at times you could almost physically sense the love these two share. It was a perfect day full of love, family, and friends; and I’m so honoured to have been a part of capturing those special moments.
